My Story ~ One Woman's Voice ~ Page 11
On arriving back in court, I was met by the police
officer who was too busy walking around the court,
with the pursuer who was pointing out all the
points where the CCTV cameras were located in
the court. On going back into court, I instructed
my agent that I was going home, and my sister
was not prepared to be subjected to another outburst
of violence from the unbalanced individual.
The pursuer’s solicitor stood up and stated
to the sheriff, that a minor incident had occurred
over the lunch period. He had not witnessed the
incident, and wanted to lessen its importance,
to protect his client. My solicitor was shouting
submissions, subsections, all the legal jargon.
I sat and watched and looked at this bunch of
dysfunctional people, and system, with my head
pounding from the injury. The sheriff then took
the agents into his chambers.
The police officer (who was too busy to take
down the report of the incident, but could walk
around the court with the pursuer and be showing
where the CCTV cameras were, and did not think
to question why someone would require knowledge
of the CCTV positions in the building) informed
the pursuer and I to behave ourselves!!!
On coming back into the court room the sheriff
and agents were allowed to see a copy of the incident.
The pursuer and I were not allowed to view it
at this stage (due to the court now adhering to
the 1998 data protection act, which they could
not put in place for the Reporter X who came in
to my house).
I also discovered that only one person in the
building could operate the CCTV system and would
have to be found. At This point, I was finished.
I was gutted and could not expose myself to any
more of this inhumane torture. I stated to my
agent I had had enough. She was pushing for power
of arrest on the pursuer, and at this point I
did not care. I had a head injury and just wanted
to get out of the building, and so did my sister.
Further dates were arranged for future attendance.
I just shook my head and agreed. I was in no fit
state to defend this anymore.
On arriving home that evening, I went to bed,
having taken 2 pain killers on the advice of NHS
24. I was unable to rest. My head, and more so,
my neck pressuring down to my shoulder, were in
agony. I was up and down all night, and having
to attend to a 16 month old baby. Luckily my brother
was staying with me to help me.
The day after the attack, I attended my GP, who
informed me I had a whiplash type of injury due
to the spontaneous blow to my head by the pursuer.
I was prescribed pain killers and sleeping tablets,
and declared unfit for work for 14 days.
My acting solicitor telephoned me, to discuss
dates, times, affidavits to be signed, etc. I
had had enough. My sister was not prepared to
go back to court and be a witness, and neither
was I. This process was not in the best interests
of my child. (I could not even lift her out her
cot due to the injury I had sustained.)
(I have a copy in my possession of the minor
security DVD in place in court that day which
shows the pursuer and his mother grooming me.)
