A Childs Voice for Justice

My Story ~ One Woman's Voice ~ Page 2

The meeting took place in my home at the end of March. The reporter stated she wanted to meet my daughter. (I had my other child, who was then 9 years old, in my home at the time.) I collected my daughter from the registered child minder, who dropped her off at the entrance to the flat downstairs. The reporter was left alone with my son in the house for approximately four or five minutes. I complied with the reporter, and showed her documented history of abuse via text messages, and police cautions sent by the pursuer. I also informed her that I had suffered mild post-natal depression, and I also had an invisible disability that the pursuer had no knowledge of, as I had only had a brief fling with him, which resulted in the conception of my daughter.

I was informed that this reporter would have to come back and interview my brother in my home. This was done in the middle of April 2006, where my brother found the interview very strained, and not well presented. The reporter informed us that she was going over to visit the pursuer at his home, to ascertain his version of events. On the 22nd April, I awoke to multiple text messages from the pursuer, which stated my confirmed mental health problems and further texts relating to my disability, and threats that if I did not attend court, a warrant would be issued for me, and then a further telephone call threatening me and my daughter, which was witnessed.

I telephoned the police, who once again came out and took a statement. They informed me that they would caution the pursuer. The information that I had given the independent non-biased reporter, which is covered under the data protection 1998 act, was disclosed to the pursuer by the reporter.

On Sunday 23rd April, I telephoned a live radio talk show and asked if anyone had any experience of these reporters. I was very upset and had not slept. I could not believe that a court officer had acted in this way. Sadly my call won "caller of the day", no great cause for celebration.
