A Childs Voice for Justice

My Story ~ One Woman's Voice ~ Page 7

At this stage we were now into July/August 2006. I had put a firm complaint into the law society about the very first acting solicitor who did not give me his belief of his understanding of the role of independent non biased solicitors. The Law Society were dealing with this complaint. Nobody was taking any responsibility for the actions of Reporter X.

I did not want people’s beliefs, I wanted to know the guidelines, rules and regulations these people should be adhering to. I received correspondence back from the Child Welfare Commissioner and the then Deputy Justice Minister - Hugh Henry - that they could not intervene in individual court cases. At no stage had I asked for them to intervene in my case. I wanted to gain knowledge and understanding of why this system was being allowed to operate with such disregard and serious flaws for our most vulnerable members of society, children.

I wrote in to Philip Yelland, Client Relations Manager at the Law Society of Scotland, who never even bothered to reply to my questions of why child law representatives were being allowed to operate with such disregard and no ethics whilst undertaking children’s work. Maybe he never had answers but later in the year it was disclosed to me that this man has a history of not answering complaints made by the public. He is mentioned on another website, Party Against Crooked Lawyers.

I had various meetings with my local MSP, as the only way I was going to get this addressed was through direct questions to the Justice Minister, Cathy Jamieson. At this stage, I had spent over £400 on telephone calls, photocopying and postage. Strangely, in September of that year, I received a telephone call from the local MSP's office, who requested that I meet up with another mother from the same court, who was going through a very similar experience of this corrupt child welfare system. I stated they could pass my phone number onto this lady.

I was sad that another person was going through this torture with their child, but it also strengthened and confirmed to me what my eyes could not shield. And the horror and observation of more of what was being allowed to operate from these un-vetted, untrained reporters were being used to act as childcare workers at the weekend at child play centres and spontaneously meant to appear to monitor child interaction with non resident parents. (It was obvious to me at this stage, that the research and findings I had discovered, that these people should never have been allowed to operate in this capacity. They were not trained or qualified or vetted to be beside children, or carry out the role of child welfare workers.)

I seriously started to question many agencies and tried to establish why this shameful system was allowed to operate. It became apparent when I received information under the FOI Act (Freedom of Information Act) from the Scottish Legal Aid board

The Scottish Executive had already been pre-warned about the dangers and exposure to children, as following document from Child Welfare Commissioner specifies:
